Why should I work with Scott Bugher / BassOverDubs?
Many bassists in the recording industry desire to sign your painting by overplaying, walking over the melody or disrespecting space. I work the opposite way. I pay attention to melody, groove and space, playing respectfully and tastefully. You won't be disappointed.
What formats do you work with?
My recording set up is completely digital, working with AIFF, WAVE and Sounddesigner II files. Some analog formats will work but special arrangements will need to be made.
Explain your tracking process?
I will import your reference files into my DAW. I will then listen to the music and chart or make notes on the chart if you provide one. Next, I will select the bass, unless you specify an instrument. I'll do some brainstorm tracks to find what I feel works best. Then I'll track my part a few times and pick the best one. I'll send you an mp3 proof and per your approval, I will export my track in a full quality format and deliver it to you.
Describe your recording signal path?
I have a few options for how you'd like the bass recorded. My typically tracking method is my bass running into an Avalon VT-737 into my Tascam FW 1804 interface. I can also put a Bass POD pro in for effects processing.
Do you record other instruments?
Personally, no. But, I have access to any instrumentalist you may need. I work with many first call guitarists, drummers, keyboardists, brass and string player, and vocalists. In fact, you can have your complete rhythm track recorded by both BassOverdubs and
Brian McRae's
DrumOverdus at the same time!
What kind of reference track do you need?
A simple stereo mix in mp3 format works just find. For optimized performance on my end, I recommend you provide a rhythm tracks or at least a click track in your mix.
Can I make revisions to the bass track?
Certainly. My priority is to give you exactly what you want.
How do I pay you?
I accept Paypal, Money Orders and Personal Checks. For immediate access to your tracks, please pay with Paypal. If you pay with a money order, the bass tracks will be delivered upon the delivery of the payment. If you pay with a personal check, bass tracks will be delivered upon the check clearing.
